Troubleshooting your DSL Connection
If you are unable to connect to the Internet with your DSL connection,
try the following steps before calling for technical support:
- Unplug the DSL modem. If you have an internal modem, restart the computer.
- If you have a router between your computer and the modem, unplug that also.
- After 30 seconds, plug the router and modem back in.
- Try to browse the Internet.
- If you are still unable to browse the Internet, unplug the modem (and router)
and shut down the computer.
- Plug in the router (if you have one), then plug in the modem. Turn on
the computer.
- Try the Internet again.
- If you are still unable to browse the Web and you have a router between
the computer and the modem, try connecting the modem directly to the
computer and repeat the above steps.
- If you still cannot browse the web, check to see if the problem is
with your modem setup. Go to our DSL Setup
Guide and make sure your modem is set up correctly.
- If you need to call technical support, leave the DSL modem connected
directly to the computer.
