What Causes "Relaying Denied" Errors When Sending Mail?

Occasionally someone may have an Andiamo email account, but is using another ISP to connect. This is usually someone with a cable modem, satellite connection, or who is traveling and using a friend’s computer & Internet account to dial up. Receiving mail will work, but when sending messages a "relaying denied" error message will appear. This is because you have to be logged in to an Andiamo dialup or DSL connection to send mail using "smtp.andiamo-tel.com" to send mail. This is to prevent our outgoing mail server from being used by unknown people to send spam.

There are two possible solutions. The easiest is to use webmail. This is best if you are traveling and only need a temporary solution for accessing email. We do not recommend this as the primary email system. Mailboxes on our server are limited in size, and mail servers are not guaranteed to retain messages for an extended period of time. It's always best to use a standard email program to archive messages.

The best way to solve this problem is to use the outgoing mail server of the company that is providing the Internet connection instead of smtp.andiamo-tel.com. (For example, for Cox Cable customers in Phoenix it would be "smtp.west.cox.net".) Leave all other settings (such as the incoming mail server and return address) to the normal Andiamo settings. The only thing that should be changed is the Outgoing (SMTP) Server. Anyone receiving mail will not notice any difference (unless they have their email software to show all headers, which not many people will do), and any replies will be sent to the Andiamo email address

You'll need to contact your Internet Service Provider and ask what the SMTP server name is.
